During a battle, a sailor is knocked into the sea.

As he sinks, he awakens to an otherworldly voice which reverberates against his bleeding eye, and a sudden jet of water spirals back towards the deck.

Having been launched back onto his ship, the retching sailor is protected by his fellow crew before an enemy breaks through and moves to finish off the straggler. As the enemy is reflected in an inhuman eye, a whirlpool appears behind them.

The sailor starts awake in his bunk, surrounded by sleeping shipmates. He smiles at them, then turns to pen the curtain, the bright light of the full moon over the sea revealing the cuttlefish-like eye that has replaced the one he lost.
